Rava Idly

Bored of preparing idly batter mix? Now here is receipe for you to prepare idly within 3 hours.

Rava Idly By Madhu Sree

Ingredients:

Rava - 2 cups
Yogurt/Curd - 1/2 cup
Oil
Salt - Depends upon the taste

To temper:

Mustard seeds.
Urad dal.
Bengal gram.
Green Chilli - Chopped
Ginger - Finely chopped
Asafoetida


Method:

In a bowl, mix rava and couple of tspn oil. Mix well. Take a handful of the mixture and try to squeeze it, somehow you will be able to shape up the rava. That is the consistency.

Now prepare butter milk out of the dahi.

Heat a pan with oil. Add all the tempering things. Put this to the rava mixture.

Now add the butter milk to the rava mix. Add salt.
Stir well to get a pouring consistency.

Leave it for 2 - 3 hours.

Now this would have become even more thicker than a pouring consistency. Pour this into the idly plates and cook for 15 - 20 minutes.

You are done, Rava Idly is ready.

Serve hot with cocunut chutney. Heavenly fud...

Note: naan rava fry pannala... fry panni senju paarungalen... definitely there will be a difference...

Initially add 1 tblspoon oil, mix well with rava... try to shape up the rava by pressing/squeezing it... u should be able to shape up, shape panna mudiyalanna add little more oil, try the same till u r able to shape up rava. exactaa evlo oil thevai nu theriyaadhu...

BTW, if u r able to shape up the rava... then only u will get soft idlies. try panni paathuttu sollunga selvi ka...

Variation: You can add vegetables like carrot, beans, potato to this mixture and prepare idlies.
