Another yummy recipe from her, simple keerai saatham.
KEERAI SAATHAM
Ingredients:
2 cups of basmati rice
3 cups of spinach chopped in big pieces
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
2 big onions chopped
2 big tomatoes chopped
1 tsp red chillie powder
¼ tsp tumeric powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp aniseeds
1 piece of cinnamon stick
3 cardamom pods
4 cloves
2 tbs ghee
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash and drain the basmati rice.
Heat the ghee in a wok, add in the aniseeds, cinnamon stick,
Cardamom pods and cloves.
Let them splutter.
Now add in the chopped onions, ginger and garlic paste.
Mix well add in the tomatoes, red chillie powder, tumeric powder,
and the garam masala powder. Cook well till the tomatoes become mushy. Add salt and the chopped spinach. Give 1 stir remove.
In a rice cooker add in the rice and cooked spinach mixture.
Add in 3 cups of water, give a good stir , close the lid and let it cook.
Once it is cooked gently fluff up the rice.
Serve with hot sweet potatoes.
