PUMPKIN TOGAYAL
Ingredients:
1 cup pumpkin cubes steam just cooked
3 tsp urad dal
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp tamarind paste less or more
4 dry red chillies broken
¼ tsp asafetida powder
½ tsp oil
Salt to taste
Seasonings:
1 tsp oil
¼ tsp mustard seeds
1 sprig curry leaves.
Method:
Heat 1 tsp of oil, fry the red chillies, mustard seeds,
urad dal and asafetida.
Grind the chillies, along with the tamarind paste and salt.
Add the steamed pumpkin pieces and grind.
Lastly add the fried mustard seeds and urad dal
and grind lightly.
In a small frying pan add the oil, mustard seeds.
add in the curry leaves. Let it splutter and add to the
ground pumpkin mixture.
This togayal has a very nice sweet, sour taste.
Goes well with dosai, idli or even rice.
