URAD DAL CHUTNEY ( Kugan )



URAD DAL CHUTNEY

Ingredients:

1 tbs oil
½ cup of urad dal, roasted till golden
8 red chillies
1 medium onion sliced
1 tsp tamarind paste, more if needed
1 tsp asafoetida powder
1 sprig curry leaves
Salt to taste

1 tsp oil
½ mustard seeds
½ tsp urad dal
1 sprig curry leaves
1 dried red chillie cut into pieces

Method:
Heat the oil and roast the urad dal till golden in colour. Remove.
Add in the dried red chillies and fry well, add in the onions and saute well.
Now add in the tamarind paste, asafotida powder and curry leaves.
Fry well and remove. Cool and blend with enough salt to chutney consistency.

Heat the tsp of oil, add in the seasonings and pour over the chutney.
Super urad dal chutney is ready.
