¼ coconut finely grated roasted to a nice golden colour
¼ tsp cardamom powder
A pinch of salt
½ cup of water

Method;
Dry fry both the dals till golden brown.
Soak for about 2 hours.
Drain and grind to a thick paste using little water.
Pat them like vadais and steam them in idly plates
for about 10 minutes.
Remove them when they are cooked. Let them cool.
Once they are cool, crumble them into crumbs, add salt.

Now in a wok, add the grated jaggery, add water till the jaggery
immerses into the water.
Cook till you get a one –string consistency.
Now add the dal crumbs, the roasted coconut,
Add in the ghee and keep on stirring, till the crumbs come
separately and does not stick to each other.
Add the cardamom powder and give a good stir.

A small portion of cooked ukkarai when pressed between the
thumb and forefinger, should not feel sticky.
The ghee should shine in our finger.
Add in the chopped cashew nuts.
Remove and enjoy.
